Uber and WeRide Bring Robotaxis to Riyadh

In a major milestone for autonomous mobility, Uber Technologies ($UBER) and WeRide ($WRD) have begun offering Robotaxi passenger rides in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The move marks the first-ever availability of autonomous vehicles on the Uber platform within the Gulf region.

Initial Launch and Coverage

Starting today, Uber riders traveling between Roshn Front and Princess Noura University can select a WeRide Robotaxi GXR as a ride option.

Each Robotaxi currently includes a safety operator on board during the initial phase.
The companies plan to transition to fully driverless operations once local testing and regulatory milestones are achieved.

This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy, which promotes AI, smart mobility, and sustainability through technology partnerships.
