Plug Power Expands European Footprint With New Hy2gen Partnership

Plug Power announced it has signed a letter of intent with Hy2gen to provide a 5 MW PEM electrolyzer for installation at Sunrhyse, the company’s flagship hydrogen production site in France.

The partnership aims to accelerate renewable hydrogen development in southern France while supporting Europe’s broader clean-energy buildout.

Sunrhyse Project to Use Plug’s Electrolyzer Technology

Under the LOI, Plug will:

Supply a 5 MW PEM electrolyzer for hydrogen generation
Support transportation and distribution of hydrogen produced onsite
Expand its turnkey hydrogen forklift solutions for logistics hubs across the region

The Sunrhyse project serves as a key anchor for Hy2gen’s European hydrogen strategy, focusing on RFNBO-certified renewable hydrogen.

Plug and Hy2gen’s partnership already spans multiple regions, including:

Project Courant in Quebec, which features a large-scale electrolyzer
A joint effort to reach a final investment decision before 2027

Plug Power Highlights Strategic European Growth

Plug’s President and Chief Revenue Officer Jose Luis Crespo said the expansion of RFNBO-certified hydrogen production in France marks “an important step” in the company’s European growth strategy.
