Nvidia Pushes for More Chips from TSMC

Chip stocks surged Monday after Nvidia ($NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang revealed in Taiwan that the company’s flagship Blackwell chips are facing “very strong demand.”

During a discussion with TSMC’s CEO Dr. C.C. Wei, Huang reportedly asked for more wafers to support the flood of AI orders — reaffirming his recent comments about $500 billion in booked demand.

TSMC declined to provide details but confirmed Nvidia’s request, underscoring the chipmaker’s central role in the AI semiconductor supply chain.

Market Reaction and Broader Rally

Shares of Nvidia jumped over 3% in premarket trading, while Micron ($MU) and AMD ($AMD) gained ~5% and 3.6%, respectively.
The rally came amid broader optimism tied to potential progress on ending the U.S. government shutdown, which helped lift risk sentiment across tech.

Analyst View: AI Spending Still in Early Innings

Wedbush analyst Dan Ives called last week’s tech pullback a “short-lived white-knuckle moment,” predicting that AI leaders will rebound strongly into year-end.
He added that Nvidia’s upcoming earnings will likely be a “major validation moment for the AI Revolution,” emphasizing how investors still underestimate the scale of AI-driven spending over the next few years.

OpenAI continues announcing new investment commitments, and analysts note that AI hardware names have limited exposure to federal funding, meaning their growth story remains largely intact.
