Barrick Considers Strategic Breakup

Barrick Mining (B) is exploring a significant restructuring that could split the company into two independent entities, Reuters reported.
The proposed structure would divide operations into:

A North America–focused mining company, and
A separate entity centered on Africa and Asia.

Possible Asset Sales Under Review

As part of the strategic review, Barrick could pursue the sale of its African assets, including the major Reko Diq mine in Pakistan.

Any sale of Reko Diq would likely occur after financing is secured for the project.

Ongoing Mali Dispute a Key Factor

Barrick is also seeking to resolve its conflict with the Mali government before moving ahead with potential divestitures.

The company lost operational control of the Luolo-Gounkoto complex after it was placed under provisional administration in June.
The mine is now overseen by a state-appointed administrator, complicating any sale process.

Strategic Outlook

A corporate split or targeted sales could:
